There are many more energy conservation tips in addition to the ones described in this web site. To keep the web site simple, the tips provided were limited to those related to the daily activities of dressing, bathing, cleaning, cooking, and shopping. Below are additional energy conservation tips that do not relate directly to these activities, however are important for daily living.
1) Get at least 8 hours of sleep at night. Take two 30 minute naps throughout the day, and try to rest for 10 minutes each hour. Resting allows the inflammation in the joints to subside and therefore decreases pain. While resting, lay on your back if possible. Laying on the back requires less energy from the body than sitting or reclining would.
2) Avoid holding items in static positions for long periods of time (i.e. a book). This encourages muscle fatigue and forces the joints to work harder, which could then cause pain. To avoid this (for example), place the newspaper you are reading on the table in front of you while reading it instead of holding it, or rest a book on a cushion while reading it. It is recommended that you change positions at least every 20 minutes to avoid muscle fatigue.

3) Plan out your daily schedule ahead of time, alternating light and heavy tasks. DO NOT RUSH! Allow for enough time to complete all tasks to avoid rushing.
4) Rearrange work areas so that specific spots are set up for specific tasks. For example, in the sink area, store all of your soaps, cleaning supplies, towels, dish clothes, and sponges so that washing dishes can be completed easily and efficiently.
5) Try to work in optimal working conditions as much as possible (avoid loud noise or inadequate lighting). This maximizes your performance by saving the energy your body expends trying to fight distractions. In order to achieve optimal working conditions, adjust the height of surfaces or chairs so that you can obtain a comfortable posture. Also make sure that your work area has proper lighting, pleasant colors, and proper ventilation.
6) Let other people do tasks for you!!! Do not be ashamed or embarrassed to ask for help!
7) Use assistive devices whenever possible!!!
8) Avoid all activities that cannot be stopped easily to prevent fatigue.
9)
Placing one's body in correct alignment can greatly reduce the energy
one uses throughout their day. In the correct position, all of the
body's muscles are at their resting length and very little energy is
being used by the body. This position is as follows: In standing,
wear comfortable shoes, stand with the feet shoulder width apart,
balance the weight of the body on both feet, pull the stomach in,
relax the arms by the sides of the body, and hold the head up.

10) In sitting, keep the feet flat on the floor, the back straight, the hips and knees at a 90 degrees angle, and the elbows resting on a surface in front of you. Place a small pillow behind the lower back, and try to sit as close as possible to the table to prevent extra movement and strain on the back.
11) When lying down, the hips and knees should be bent slightly and supported by pillows.
12) To lift an object, bend the knees and use the muscles of the legs to lift the object instead of the back. The object should be held as close to the body as possible to maximize the efficiency of your lifting power. Turning should be accomplished by moving the feet, not by twisting the back. This method of lifting also helps to protect your joints.

13) Eliminate all unnecessary tasks!
14) Carry a cordless phone around with you at all times so that you never have to rush to answer the phone. You could also allow an answering machine to screen the phone calls first, and then return them once you get up to get the phone.
15) Using hand rails helps to eliminate strain on the knees and the back when climbing stairs.
