Collision theory attempts to explain the results of kinetics experiments in terms of the individual atoms and molecules that are undergoing chemical reaction. Specifically, collision theory explains the temperature dependence of reaction rates, as well as some aspects of the behavior of catalysts. Collision theory recognizes that, for a reaction to take place, at least three conditions must be met:
